Most brands use aluminum chlorohydrate (known as “aluminum salts”), which could clog pores, preventing them from “breathing”, blocking the passage of sweat. Many can say, of course, this is the function of the deodorant.

However, the problem is that it directly interrupts the natural process of temperature regulation. Thus, it is preventing the body from working as it should, cooling the places where it could otherwise pose a problem for the body.

On the other hand, some studies maintain that the frequent use of deodorants could cause breast cancer. However, no studies to date have confirmed any substantial adverse effects of aluminum that could contribute to increased breast cancer risks.

Various studies have associated the possibility of an increased risk of breast cancer with the use of antiperspirants, however none managed to present clear evidence showing that the use of antiperspirants or cosmetics containing aluminum increases this risk.

Now, if you are concerned about this situation or you simply want to find a more environmentally friendly option, keep reading and discover how to prepare a natural deodorant.

Natural deodorant

Recipe 1: corn, tea tree, and coconut oil

For this first option you will need the following ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup baking soda
  • 10 drops of lavender, eucalyptus, or tea tree essential oil
  • 10 drops of essential oil of peppermint or sandalwood, antifungals (for women, in the case of men, better than 20)
  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons vitamin E oil (optional)

The choice of these essential oils is due to the fact that each one of them is attributed antibacterial properties that would help fight against the bad smell of sweat.

To make the natural deodorant, mix all the ingredients in a container to form a thick paste. Place it in an empty container of deodorant stick or similar and apply it daily. Also, be careful because too much quantity will not be very comfortable.

  • 15 drops of white thyme oil
  • 25 drops of lavender oil
  • 3 drops of castor oil

In this case, various essential oils are used to counteract bad odors produced by bacteria (due, of course, to their properties described above).

Melt the beeswax in a bain-marie, add the cocoa butter and when both are melted, add the oils. Mix well and place in a container, let it cool. You use it after the bath, in small quantities.
