How To Make Sweet Potato Puree With 3 Healthy Recipes?

At first glance, the sweet potato is a tuber similar to a potato, although with a much more irregular shape. Now, in terms of flavor, the sweet potato has a much sweeter taste, since it contains a higher percentage of sugar. The meat of this vegetable is very soft, so it is used in various preparations, among which the sweet potato puree stands out.

The following recipes for mashed sweet potatoes work as garnishes that we can accompany with a good portion of vegetables, such as zucchini sautéed with a touch of salt and black pepper, some green beans, peas or simply, a lettuce salad.

Sweet potato puree with dried fruits

Ingredients (for 2 people)

  • 4 sweet potatoes (about 300 g)
  • 1 pinch of fine salt
  • Water (the amount needed)
  • Olive oil (the necessary amount)
  • Optional: a pinch of black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons of dried fruit or just walnuts (60 g)

Preparation

  1. First, we must clean, peel and cut the sweet potato into slices.
  2. We put a pot to boil with water and a drizzle of olive oil. When it reaches the boiling point, we lower the heat and add the sweet potato slices. Let it cook for a few minutes until they are completely soft.
  3. We drain a little water (less than one letter is part of the content of the pot) and we proceed to mash the sweet potato with the help of a hand mixer.
  4. Salt to taste.
  5. Besides, we proceed to peel and chop the walnuts.
  6. We spread the chopped walnuts over the entire surface and serve.

Sweet potato mash with carrot

Ingredients (for 2 or 3 people)

  • 4 sweet potatoes (about 300 g)
  • A pinch of fine salt
  • 6 medium carrots
  • 2 tablespoons of soy margarine (30 g)
  • 1 teaspoon of nutmeg (5 g)
  • 1 tablespoon of honey or maple syrup (10 g)
  • Optional: freshly ground ginger

Preparation

  1. We clean, peel and cut the sweet potatoes into 1 centimeter thick slices.
  2. Peel and cut the carrots into small pieces. Preferably with a thickness similar to that of sweet potatoes.
  3. We place the sweet potatoes and carrots in a pot with water and bring them to a boil to soften them.
  4. Once they are soft enough, we remove from the heat. We drain.
  5. Place the sweet potatoes, carrots and butter in a bowl and blend them all with the help of a hand mixer, until obtaining a homogeneous dough.
  6. We add the honey or the maple syrup and we process everything again to integrate well.
  7. We season and serve at the moment.

Sweet potato puree with hot pepper

Ingredients

  • two potatoes 
  • two yams
  • A pinch of black pepper
  • teaspoon of salt (5 g)
  • 3 tablespoons of butter (45 g)
  • 1 tablespoon of hot paprika (15 g)
  • 1 cup of vegetable drink, preferably almond or rice (250 ml)

Preparation

  1. We peel the walnuts and soak them for 30 or 40 minutes. The water should be lukewarm or at least room temperature.
  2. Once this time has elapsed, we proceed to drain the walnuts. Next, we blend them until we obtain a creamy mixture without lumps. We booked.
  3. As in the previous recipes, we must clean, peel and cut the sweet potatoes into slices. Next, we place them in a pot with enough water and a pinch of salt.
  4. Cook over medium heat until soft. This process can take about 10 minutes or a little longer.
  5. We drain the sweet potatoes and place them in a bowl along with the butter, the vegetable drink and the rest of the ingredients. We season to taste.
  6. We process all the contents of the bowl with the help of the hand mixer so that all the elements are well integrated.

  8. Before serving, add a little of the walnut cream on top of the puree and sprinkle the hot paprika over the entire surface.

The sweet potato puree  can be accompanied by a touch of cheese (grated or cream) to create a certain contrast between the sweet taste of the sweet potato and also its smooth texture.
