How To Remove Blood Moles?

Many people who have red moles go to the doctor to remove them, simply for cosmetic reasons. And, in most cases, they do not pose a health risk.

Only when they appear suddenly, become asymmetrical, cause some discomfort or appear in an excessive amount on the skin, will it be necessary to go to the dermatologist. But what are blood moles?

Ruby nevi are what are popularly known as ‘red moles’ or ‘blood moles’. These are circular angiomas that appear, asymptomatically, when melanocytes accumulate in the same point of the skin.

Red moles usually appear on the upper body. Especially on the face, neck, chest, back and armpits; although they can also appear on the legs and other areas. They are usually small in size and regular in shape.

When these marks do not appear from birth but appear suddenly and are accompanied by certain discomfort, they cause concern. Next, we will tell you more about the causes of blood moles, the types of treatment and also, how they can be prevented.

Causes of blood moles

Aging of the skin is usually the most common cause of the appearance of blood moles. Therefore, it is considered normal for people to start having some from 40-45 years of age.

On the other hand, lifestyle habits (such as diet and daily skin care in terms of sun protection) also influence its appearance. In this way, other possible causes are:

  • Dehydration
  • Liver disorders
  • Hormonal changes.
  • Overexposure to UVA and UVB rays.
  • Diet rich in saturated fats, sugars, and processed foods, along with poor hydration.

Red moles or blood moles on the skin are not the same as dots.

Warning signs

The following symptoms may indicate that the mole is no longer benign and that a medical evaluation is necessary to detect what is the cause of the problem and how it can be attacked. It should be noted that when the person has severe itching and pain, it can be a serious problem.

  • Itching
  • Pain.
  • Burning.
  • Bleeding
  • Asymmetry.
  • Heterogeneous coloring or darkening.
  • Accelerated growth (greater than 6 millimeters).
  • Elevation of its surface or part of it (relief formation).
  • Sudden multiplication of moles in various areas of the skin.

Treatment

Since red moles do not present any bothersome symptoms or changes, they do not warrant any treatment. Now, when blood moles cause discomfort, both aesthetically and in health, the doctor must determine the most appropriate procedure.

Under no circumstances should you resort to natural alternatives or procedures that do not have a professional certificate in dermatology. Some of the treatments that the doctor may indicate are:

  • Surgical removal: it is applied mainly for large and deep moles. An excision is made on the skin, the mole is removed and the area is then sewn up. It can be painful and often leaves a scar.
  • Laser – This is another method to completely remove moles. It is quick and generally less painful than surgical removal.
  • Cryotherapy: liquid nitrogen is applied to freeze the mole and then it is extracted, in the same way that it is done with warts.

Go to the doctor.

Precautionary measures

  • Use sunscreen daily.
  • Avoid exposing yourself to the sun in the hours of maximum radiation and, if this cannot be avoided, it is advisable to apply sunscreen to the face and cover the rest of the skin with the appropriate clothing.
  • Drink enough water throughout the day to hydrate the body.
  • Reduce your intake of saturated fats, sweets, sugars, and unhealthy foods in general.
  • Apply lotion or moisturizer to the skin after bathing to hydrate it and take care of its elasticity.
  • Avoid showering with extremely hot water, as it impairs blood circulation, in addition to dilating the pores and exposing the skin to various injuries.
  • Perform a monthly self-examination to see if the mole has changed and, based on this, go for a medical consultation.
  • Avoid natural remedies as the main treatment to remove moles, since these do not usually have the desired effect and can cause damage to health.

To prevent the appearance of blood moles, as well as other skin lesions, it is necessary to maintain good skin care and also try to apply all the mentioned preventive measures.
