The yogurt and banana mask has moisturizing properties that help minimize the flakes caused by psoriasis on the scalp. The green banana, according to this study carried out by the National University of Colombia, has antioxidant properties  ; yogurt, for its part, has the ability to relieve irritation, according to this research carried out by the Autonomous Regional University of Los Andes (Cuba).

Its natural acids restore the skin’s pH and help soothe itching and burning.

Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons of natural yogurt (120 g)
  • 1 ripe banana

Preparation

  • Pour the plain yogurt into a bowl and mix it with a ripe banana until it forms a creamy paste.

Application mode

  • Separate the hair into strands and spread the treatment over the affected areas of the scalp.
  • Let it act for 30 minutes and rinse.
  • Use it at least 3 times a week until the problem is reduced.

2. Aloe vera and olive oil

Its regular application facilitates the removal of scabs and reduces dryness and irritation.

Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons of aloe vera (90 g)
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil (48 g)

Preparation

  • Add the ingredients to the blender and blend until well combined.

    Application mode

    • Dampen your hair and gently rub the treatment all over your scalp.
    • Let it act for 30 minutes and rinse.
    • Repeat its use 2 times a week.

    3. Garlic and coconut oil

    The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of garlic (according to this study by the Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences of China) are combined with the moisturizing action of coconut oil to facilitate the cleaning of the scalp in the event of psoriasis outbreaks.

    Its active compounds improve circulation and, by improving capillary oxygenation, accelerate the relief of this problem.

    Ingredients

    • 2 raw garlic cloves
    • 3 tablespoons of coconut oil (45 g)

    Preparation

    • Crush the garlic cloves and mix them with the coconut oil.

    Application mode

    • Spread the treatment on the affected areas and leave it to act for 20 minutes.
    • Rinse with plenty of cold water and repeat its application 2 or 3 times a week.

    4. Oats and honey

    The combination of oatmeal with honey gives us a gentle treatment to hydrate the scalp and eliminate dead cells. The first is very nutritious; the second has healing properties, as stated in this study carried out by the Central Clinic “Cira García” of Cuba.

    Its compounds soothe irritation and the sensation of itching and, little by little, reduce the presence of scales.

    Ingredients

    • 2 tablespoons of oatmeal (20 g)
    • 3 tablespoons of honey (50 g)

    Preparation

    • Combine the oatmeal with honey and, if necessary, add a splash of water to make the pasta creamier.

    Application mode

    • Apply the treatment all over the scalp and leave it to act for 20 or 30 minutes.
    • Rinse and repeat its use 3 times a week.

    5. Apple cider vinegar

    The application of apple cider vinegar stimulates blood circulation in the small capillaries of the skin and, thanks to this, improves the condition of the scalp. This is stated in this study carried out by the University of Bridgeport (United States).

    Its natural acids restore the skin’s pH to normal levels and soften the scales to promote their elimination.

    Ingredients

    • ½ cup of apple cider vinegar (125 ml)
    • 1 cup of water (250 ml)

    Preparation

    • Dilute the apple cider vinegar in a cup of warm water.

    Application mode

    • Pour the solution into a spray bottle and spray it all over your scalp.
    • Let it act for 20 minutes and rinse.
    • Repeat its application every day, until symptoms relieve.
